I have recently received an obituary for a former Tottenham boy who few people would now recall. Clearly Brian Clifford, from humble beginnings, went on to create a name for himself in journalism, television, and horse racing and, in later years, he was a much loved and respected member of the community in Sissinghurst and Cranbrook in Kent.

Brian Clifford had grown up in Philip Lane, Tottenham during the early post war years and had attended Downhills Infants, Primary and Downhills Central School. It would appear that in his youth he was also a good footballer and was once on the Spurs books for a short while.
