John Williams - South Seas Missionary & Explorer - A Life

 

Born in Tottenham, John Williams, an ironmonger's apprentice, who in 1816 at the age of twenty went out to serve as a missionary in the South Seas. Through his exploits as a missionary and a vigorous national appeal campaign, he became something of a social success and a public figure.
