QUEENIE RAWLE (Nee GARDNER)   1924 - 2016


It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Queenie Rawle who died on the 26th November, 2016 aged 92 years.

Queenie Rawle (Gardner was born in Tottenham in January 1924 and was one of the survivors from the Downhills Shelter Tragedy in September 1940 when 42 local people lost their lives when a German High-Explosive bomb made a direct hit on the public air-raid shelter in Lordship Recreation Ground, Tottenham close to the Downhills Park Road entrance.

Queenie had been widowed for a short number of years following the death of her husband Les Rawle and is survived by three of her children: Phil, Cathy and Annie and their families.

In recent years Queenie had been a loyal supporter of Bruce Castle Musem where she would regularly attend events and talks. She will be sadly missed.
