The new stadium was opened in April 2019 and had been built largely on the footprint of the old stadium that had originated from 1900. Despite a few hiccups along the way, that delayed the opening my nearly 9 months, it has set new standards for sports stadiums not only in the UK but throughout the world.  The stadium also has a unique retractable pitch to create a multi-use stadium for Football, NFL , music concerts and world class entertainment.

The new stadium hosts the largest club shop in Europe and provides in hospitality terms a wide variety of bars and restaurants to enhance your matchday experience. The 'GOAL LINE BAR' in the south stand is Europe's longest bar and beer is served with an ingenious method of filling the glass from the bottom all in around seven seconds. The entire stadium is Cash-Free and payment is only accepted by contactless debit cards.

Unfortunately, as I experienced one of the early tours of the new stadium, some areas were not available to view. However, future tours will offer a wider look at the new stadium including sky walks and for the brave hearted abseiling down from the roof of the stadium.
