MODEL TRAFFIC AREA - LORDSHIP RECREATION GROUND

WEEKLY ILLUSTRATED - AUGUST 1938

We are indebted to the newspaper archives held by Bruce Castle Museum in Tottenham, for the following article published in 'Weekly Illustrated' on August 13th 1938. Clearly this closely follows the official opening of this wonderful facility which was unique to Lordship Recreation Ground  in Tottenham. Throughout the 1940's 50's and 60's the Model Traffic Area was dearly loved both by the children of Tottenham and neighbouring areas. Sadly the area was allowed to fall into disrepair due to lack of funding by the local authorities. However many of the original miniature roads and other features still exist today and only serve as a sad memorial to the many hours of fun and excitement enjoyed by the children of generations past.
